Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 2040 provides recommendations, advice and guidance on controlling legionellae in healthcare premises. It is applicable to new and existing sites, and is for use at various stages during the inception, design, upgrading, refurbishment, extension and maintenance of a building.

This volume good practice guide gices advice on the course of action if an autbreak of legionnaires disease is suspected, on cleaning and desinfection of a cooling tower implicated in an outbreal of legionnaires disease, and on the use of sodium hypochlorite solutions for chlorination of cooling water systems in hospitals.
