Introducción:

This presentation has four objectives: first, to place current beliefs about airborne nosocomial infections into an historical context; second, to review the possible sources of airborne infection in the health care setting; third, to review the microorganism that have been transmitted bu the airborne route in hospitals; and finally, to evaluate the relative importance of airborne transmission of infection in the overall problem of nosocomial infection.
