Abstract:
Commercially available ultraviolet lamps are mostly mercury vapor lamps, either lowpressure or high-pressure. Low-pressure lamps are used extensively to destroy bacteria. High-pressure lamps are used more for lighting. The power, properties and effectiveness of each type are discussed with precautions for safe use. Methods of measuring the intensity of ultraviolet radiation are reviewed, but there is no simple, inexpensive meter available.Nagy, R.
