Introducción:

Some interesting and significant results have emerged following a study performed jointly by Ilmenau University of Technology and Berchtold GmbH & Co. KG.

The goal of the study was to investigate the effects of the surgical light, which is usually of high intensity, on the surgeon?s physiology. The outcome showed that a surgical light with high colour temperature (4,300K) reduces fatigue in the surgeon and enhances his/her power of concentration. By contrast, the use of a surgical light with low colour temperature (3,400K) can
increase the rate of errors attributable to lack of concentration by up to 5%.
