Medical and Dental Guidance Notes.
This book is the much awaited replacement for the old yellow `Guidance Notes` published in 1988 by the National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB). Since then nearly all Regulations covering the use of ionising radiation have been updated. The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) established a working group in 1999 to produce a first draft for consultation (produced in April 2000) and to consider subsequent comments to this draft. The final document, published by IPEM, is therefore the end product of numerous contributions from professionals working in healthcare and wide consultation with professional bodies, the NRPB, UK Health Departments, Environment Agencies and the HSE. The notes provide general guidance on good practice—not just legal requirements. Radiation Protection Advisers and Medical Physics Experts may well have instigated slightly different arrangements locally.
