Building guidelines for a surgical department
On 12 January 2004, the Netherlands Board for Hospital Facilities (NBHF) adopted the building guidelines for a surgical department.
These guidelines form a supplement to the building guidelines for general hospitals (the so-called umbrella index) which are intended for the hospital as a whole and were adopted by the NBHF and approved by the Minister of Health, Welfare & Sport at the end of 2002.
A one-day symposium on the technical installations and layout for surgical departments was organised in the autumn of 2003 at the initiative of the NBHF within the EU Health Property Network. The results of this symposium have been incorporated into these guidelines.
The building guidelines contain basic principles in relation to care, basic quality requirements, examples of good practice and basic financial principles.
