Abstract:
Minimally invasive surgery has been increasing in its adaptability to a wide range of procedures. Initially used in general surgery for cholecystectomy its use has now expanded to include Nissen fundoplications, Heller myotomies, donor nephrectomies, and total esophagectomies. Technological advancements have evolved to include robotic systems for performance of complex surgical procedures.
